A Day of Play with Nickelodeon stars

For its seventh-annual Worldwide Day of Play on September 25, Nickelodeon went all-out to make sure kids had fun outdoors. In addition to having its TV channels and website go off the air and offline from noon to 3 p.m., the network partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York on the RBC Race for the Kids event at New York?s Riverside Park.

The day included a concert by iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove and a BrainSurge game featuring Victoria Justice (Victorious), Keke Palmer and Matt Shively (True Jackson, VP) competing with NBA player Chris Paul and kids from the audience. ?The thing I hope kids take away from today is that you don't always have to get home and get on the Internet," said Victoria. ?It's better to go outside and run around and have fun, even if it's only for 10 minutes."

Kids at the event spent much more than 10 minutes having fun with the Nickelodeon stars. In addition to the stage shows, they got to enjoy activities such as basketball, a rock wall, an obstacle course, Nickelodeon Fit Wii kiosks and a Dora photo booth. ?There were lots of cool games and it was really fun meeting the stars!? said Elizabeth Cady, age 9.
